Hi! My name is Kristen Dantonio and I am a 5th grade teacher in Jenison, Michigan. I just finished my 2nd year of teaching and I love 5th grade! I decided to move to Grand Rapids after living in East Lansing for the last decade. Moving around when I was younger, I moved to East Lansing going into my freshman year of high school. I loved it so much that I stayed there and went to Michigan State.
This past year has been a great one for me. I got engaged and bought a house! I am getting married next summer and I am so excited. I love to read and try to bring that passion for reading into my classroom. I also love to watch movie and TV shows and my students love to share shows and movies that they have watched with me.
During my free time, I enjoy being at Lake Michigan and spending time with my family. My sister, Lauren is 2 years younger than me and just moved to Chicago. My parents still live in East Lansing and I am able to see them a lot. We have two dogs, Penny Rose and Esther, and they keep us entertained.
There are several goals that I set for my students:
-Treat others the way you want to be treated
-Do not be afraid to try new things
-Love school and feel safe in school
-Try your best and do not be afraid to fail
If my students can conquer each of these goals, their self-esteem will rise, their attitude about school will be positive, and they will love to learn.
