This course discussed math practices to bring into my classroom. I designed and implemented multiple math lessons including a higher level thinking activity. The course assisted me in my student teaching to take over math duties in the classroom.

This course discussed literacy and language arts practices. I was able to create a literacy unit to use with my students during my internship year. The course helped me develop literacy strategies to use with my students during both reading and writing.

This course focused on science practices for elementary teachers. In this course, we designed our own science units to implement in our student teaching classroom. We also were able to participate in several lessons to fully engage with the content.

This course discussed social studies practices. We gained a better understanding of using current events in our classroom. We then designed a social studies unit for our student teaching class. Afterwards, we reflected on the power of that unit and how we connected it to the current world.

This course allowed for exploration into inquiry. We dissected during teaching and learning pedagogies and how they influenced both the learner and the teacher. We studied the psychological, sociological, and intellectual concepts in inquiry practices. I was able to have a deeper understanding of how learners are able to process and retain information.
Teaching School Subject Matter w/ Technology (TE831)

This course allowed for me to explore different technological tools to use in my classroom. I was able to grasp a deeper understanding for technological practices as well as how to implement them into my class. I created multiple lessons and resources for my students to put these practices to use. It is important to keep in mind that the technological tool is meant to emphasize content.
Accommodations for Literacy Learners (TE846)

In this course, I worked with a literacy learner one-on-one. We worked together to improve on reading comprehension and fluency. This course pushed depth and knowledge of literacy practices. I was able to introduce different reading strategies to my literacy learner and see tremendous growth in not only comprehension and fluency but also reading confidence.

Throughout this course, I studied different genres and literary elements. We looked at literature through these elements and were able to implement them into the classroom. We were able to make connections through literature with our students. I was able to gain many resources to bring into my classroom's literacy block.
Awards and Classics of Children Literature (TE836)

In this course, we took a critical look into literary classics. We examined the qualities of these books and why they were awarded with honors. We then created units and lesson plans that fit with a specific genre. These units aided teachers with cultural relevance. This course allowed for me to understand the importance of using literature that reflects the cultures of your students.

This course reflected on my graduate program as a whole. I created a Capstone Professional Portfolio in which colleagues can read and understand the work and progress I have made in my program. This course gave me an opportunity to reflect on my learning and how to integrate what I have learned moving forward in my professional development and career.
Children's Literature in Film (TE838)

This course asked me to really look into film language or a film that was based on written text. We looked at several different classics to determine the filmmakers purpose and decisions in changing different things in the film. The course pushed me to think about deeper messages in both texts and films.
